Day of the Exam

  • If you are more than five minutes late for an exam, come directly to the School of Law Registrar’s Office. You will be placed in an available classroom so that you do not disrupt the students already taking the exam. Extra time will not be given to complete your exam.
  • If an emergency arises after the conflict deadline or the day of an exam, the student should notify the Assistant Dean of Students and/or the Registrar as soon as possible. Do not contact your professor.
  • Due to space limitations, students must pay attention to the alphabetical breakdown assigned to each course with large student enrollment. One exam may be scheduled in multiple rooms.
  • The School of Law Registrar’s Office supplies all students with earplugs to block out the noise. Students are not permitted to bring their own earplugs.
  • The Law School Registrar’s Office supplies pencils only for exams using a scantron.
  • Students are not permitted to bring food of any kind into the exam room. Bottled water only.
  • Students must sit in alternating seats.
  • Scratch paper will be provided if permitted by the professor.
  • If a calculator is permitted on the exam, it must not have memory.
  • If you are using your laptop for the exam, you must bring your own power cord to the exam and keep your laptop plugged in during the entire exam.
  • Students will not be able to access any notes on their laptops during the exam. They must be printed before coming to the exam.
  • Students are not permitted to wear a coat, hat or cap during examinations. If the temperature in the room is too hot or too cold, inform one of the proctors and he/she will inform the Main Office.
  • Smartphones, smart watches and any other devices must be off and in the student’s bookbag or purse.Students are not permitted to wear anything on their wrists. Bookbags and purses are to be placed at the front of the room along with any materials not permitted on the exam.
  • Exam booklets must remain face down on the desk until the proctor says you may begin.
  • Do not begin your exam until the proctor says you may begin.
  • Do not place your name on any exam materials. Only use your final exam number for that specific semester.
  • If you are writing in a Bluebook, write on the front page only and skip a space between lines. Do not rip pages out of the Bluebook. Scratch paper will be provided to you if permitted by the professor. If you use more than one Bluebook, be sure to number each one consecutively.
  • Students must run the exam software during the entire exam regardless of the exam format.
  • If you have any issues with your laptop during the exam, you must notify the proctor immediately. You are permitted to restart your laptop one time. The files are backed up every60 seconds. If the problem persists, you must start writing in a Bluebook. You can visit Room 304 for Technology assistance following the exam. No extra time will be provided to complete your exam.
  • Students are not permitted to go outside or leave the building during an exam even if there is a break.
  •  Students are only permitted to use the restrooms in the student lounge and on the 3rd floor. Only one student is permitted in the restroom at a time.
  • Students are not permitted to leave the room for a break during the last 10 minutes of the exam.
  • Proctors will give a 15, 10 and 5 minute warning near the end of the exam. Students must stop typing or writing when the proctor says to stop. Failure to stop will be considered a violation of the Disciplinary Code.
  • Students are not permitted to leave the room until they receive the green confirmation screen on their laptop and turned in all exam materials to the proctors.
  • Students may not remove their examinations, bluebooks or answer sheets from the exam room. Removing an exam from the examination room will result in an automatic “F” on the exam
