William B. Billock Loan Repayment Assistance Program (LRAP)

This program is named for the late William B. Billock, L'38, who served as vice president of Gulf Oil and represented the company as head of industrial relations. The $1.4 million endowment that bears his name is meant to encourage pursuit of careers in nonprofit public interest law or in local, state or federal government. Consistent with the School of Law's motto that the welfare of the people is the highest law, the LRAP seeks to ease the debt burden incurred by graduates who work as public interest law or government attorneys or serve as staff for tax-exempt organizations. The endowment was established in 2008 and the initial awards were given in 2009.

Applicants for LRAP must meet these criteria:

  1. employment in a qualifying public interest law position
  2. a maximum of $50,000 in adjusted gross income
  3. outstanding law school debt
  4. graduated 10 years ago from current fiscal year
