Alumni, Mark your Calendars!

Your presence is requested as a judge of oral arguments delivered by first-year students in support of appellate briefs prepared in the Legal Research and Writing Program. The argument sessions will be held on Saturday, April 1 and Saturday, April 8. Alumni can participate one or both days, in the morning or afternoon.

Each argument, involving two students, will last approximately one hour. Four "judges," typically three practicing attorneys and one Legal Research and Writing professor, will preside over each argument. Volunteers will judge six students, in three pairs of oral arguments. Four different cases will be used for the program, but each volunteer judge will be assigned to arguments on one case. Volunteering will entail three hours of judging, as well as advance reading of the students' briefs and supporting materials.

Parking and Refreshments

The School of Law will provide volunteers with parking at no cost in the Forbes Garage. Refreshments will be available each day, and small receptions will follow all sessions, so volunteers will have opportunities to speak informally with students and participants, if they wish.
