Not sure where to start?

You can always ask a librarian or staff member for assistance at any time.

Do you have a reference question? Use the DCLI "E-Mail Reference" form to ask a law librarian. The reference inquiries will then be carefully reviewed and attended to.

The Center keeps a copy of most textbooks and other materials used during the current semester at the Circulation Desk. Select past exams may also be available.

  • Materials may be used in the library for 2 hours.
  • Valid DU ID required.
  • Find reserves on SOLCAT.

Group Study Rooms

There are a number of group study rooms available in the Center for law student use in two hour increments, with a potential two hour renewal, on a first-come, first served basis. Some of the rooms are equipped with additional multimedia. Ask at the Circulation Desk for keys and room availability (DU ID is required.) Rooms may be reserved in advance during exam periods.

Requesting Items From Other Libraries (Interlibrary Loan)

The Center provides a free interlibrary loan (ILL) service for law students. If the Center does not own the legal research material(s) you desire (books and/or journal articles), we will attempt to secure the materials from another library. Remember to allow time (1-2 weeks) for delivery of material.

Allegheny County Law Library materials may be requested at the Information Desk.  Items are shipped via courier; delivery may take 1-2 days. ACLL materials may be used in the library or checked out.

Law students also have access to the Gumberg Library, including their research databases. You may also be able to use your DU ID at other local libraries.

The Center's eNewsletter In order to easily keep you better informed of important legal research resources and events, the Center has created the DuqLawWire and distributed via email to all law students.
