Gormley and McVerry receive Amen Corner honors

A long-standing public service organization honored Duquesne University President-elect Ken Gormley and Judge Terrence McVerry, L’68, on April 27 during the 56th Amen Corner Judicial Reception. Gormley received the group’s Judge James R. McGregor Award “for exceptional contributions to the community,” in recognition of his years of service as a law professor and dean, Allegheny County Bar Association president, and mayor of a Pittsburgh-area municipality. 

Judge McVerry of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania received the Judge Robert E. Dauer Award “for judicial leadership and excellence.” 

Pennsylvania Supreme Court Justice Christine Donohue, L’80, presented the Amen Corner awards. The Pittsburgh association has been in existence since 1870.
