McCants Lewis Among Nominees for MLK Jr. Leadership Awards

Sunday, December 20, 2015

The Coro Center for Civic Leadership, Pittsburgh, this week announced finalists for the 9th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Leadership Awards, and the list includes Duquesne Law alumni Tracey McCants Lewis, L’00, assistant professor and assistant director of clinical legal education, and Alka A. Patel, L’01, managing director and senior counsel at BNY Mellon.

The leadership awards will be held on January 30, 2016, 6:30 – 9 p.m. DoubleTree Hotel, Downtown Pittsburgh.

Coro Pittsburgh President and CEO Greg Crowley says the awards are a “community building event and a celebration of leaders who set a positive example for how to build strong, inclusive communities.”

The award finalists, Crowley says, are role models of values-based leadership. “In the tradition of Dr. King, they have dedicated themselves (or their organizations) to connecting diverse people to one another. The leaders have served as a powerful antidote to a climate of growing fear and mistrust among Americans.”
